Objectives | Aims
1. Service SmartBuoys at Warp and West Gabbard (SLA25G) 2. Service SmartBuoy at Dowsing (E5304A) 3. Recover and re-deploy Southwold waverider (C3456A) Narrative Steamed to recover the drifting Southwold Waverider (DWR) at 10:30, steam to West Gabbard SmartBuoy. Collect water samples from CTD rosette 12:00, recover and redeploy the SmartBuoy followed by another CTD cast at 13:30. Proceed at full speed to the Warp SmartBuoy collecting hourly water samples en-route until 17:30. CTD then recover the SmartBuoy. The SmartBuoy became caught under the port stern quarter immediately after deployment but apparently only sustained minor damage (the GPS aerial was damaged). The ship left the Thames area to re-deploy the Southwold DWR at 01:00. She steamed overnight to the Dowsing site to service the SmartBuoy, collect calibration samples, then return to Lowestoft. |
