PurposeResearch
ObjectivesThe purpose of this project is to monitor the spatial distribution and seasonal patterns in the appearance of fish eggs and larvae on the Dutch continental shelf. The survey covers the southern North Sea and eastern English Channel. In each ICES rectangle 2-3 double oblique hauls are made with the Gulf VII plankton torpedo with mounted CTD. The Gulf VII is fitted with a 20 cm diameter conical nose and a standard net of 280 µm or 500 µm mesh size. All egg and larvae and CTD data are stored in a central database at IMARES.
