Objectives | Part of the German Small-Scale Bottom Traml Survey and the ICES co-ordinated International Herring Larvae Surveys (IHLS), 2014/15. The aims are to continue the long-term investigation of winter bottom fish assemblages through sampling of the standard area 'Box A' (German Bight) and to estimate the distribution and abundance of North Sea herring larvae for assessment purposes. The larvae samples are taken on a standard grid with a station to station distance of approx. 10 nm. Used gear is a modified GULF III plankton sampler (Nackthai). The bottom Trawl Survey was conducted as scheduled, but none of the stations dedicated to the herring larvae sampling could be done due to very strong wind speeds and wave heights. |
