The main purpose of the cruise is the assessment of the spawning stock size, distribution and migration of blue whiting using acoustic methods combined with sampling with pelagic trawls. The cruise is part of an international coordinated blue whiting survey with vessels from the Netherlands, Ireland, the Faroes, Norway and Russia participating. Information on other species such as argentines, mackerel and horse mackerel is collected upon encounter. |
