The moorings were a part of the Research Moored Array for African-Asian-Australian Monsoon Analysis and Prediction (RAMA). This array is part of a multi-national effort to provide data essential for monitoring, understanding, and predicting basin scale ocean-atmosphere variability such as the Asian monsoon, the Indian Ocean Dipole, and the Madden-Julian Oscillation. Conductivity, Temperature and Depth (CTD) operations were conducted after every Mooring buoy deployment and retrieval locations.
