| Objectives | To take part in the ICES Herring Larval Surveys in the Orkney/Shetland area.
''Explorer'' went to Scrabaster on the 19/09/1981 to land the chief engineer. Operations were curtailed due to servere weather on the 20/09/1981and was made to shelter in Scapa Flow till sampling could be recommenced on the 21/09/1981 in the Moray Firth. A half-landing took place in Kirkwell from the 23/09/1981 until the 24/09/1981. |
