PurposeFisheries
Objectives1. To carry out an acoustic and midwater trawling survey of the Orkney - Shetland area, as part of an ICES-coordinated survey of the herring stock in the northwestern North Sea.
2. Subsidiary objectives added shortly before and during the survey were:
a) a survey of the northern part of ICES Division VIa to search for mackerel shoals in the approaches to the Minch
b) a survey ofd Aberdeen where adult herring concentrations had been reported.
