Purpose | Research |
Objectives | 1. To continue studies of the benthic ecology of the eastern Atlantic. The samples required are from the slope area 35N to 45N, from the coast to 35W including the continental slope.
2. The samples and data will be collected by spade box corer, epibenthic sledge, Agassiz trawl, stereo camera and plankton net. 3. The samples collected will be used for: (a) Population studies. (b) Comparison with samples collected in the Rockall Trough. (c) Genetic studies of species collected in the NE Atlantic. (d) Quantitative studies of macrofauna. (e) Geochemical, geotechnical and microbiological studies of the surface 50cm of sediment collected by box core. |
