PurposeResearch
ObjectivesGeological investigation into the mapping & sedimentology of the mid Indus Sub Fan. This was the follow up to cruise 20, with the aim of mapping selected areas in more detail using seismic methods and to carry out intensive sediment sampling within these areas. There was particular interest in the huge channels (up to 1km wide and 100m deep) that meander over the surface of the fan and look very similar to river floodplains on land.
