PurposeResearch
ObjectivesHydrographic survey in a region north-east of Shetland, at 62 minutes North 2 degrees East at the edge of the Northern Shelf boardering the Norwegian Deeps, and 60 degrees 56 minutes and 40 minutes West off Muckle Flugga that commenced on the 08/06/1969. Additional hydrographic stations were worked near the drogues to supplement earlier observations of the area.

Preliminary trials were made of an automated chemical analysis system incorporating channel switching and automatic calibration. A full set of samples was taken with the Modified Plankton Indicator for the SMBA Laboratory Edinburgh. The echo sounder was in continuous operation and fully annotated.
