Objectives | The major aim was the study of tectonic processes occuring in two areas of Indonesia, namely the eastern end of the Java Trench, where it is being overridden by the Australian continent, and the south-western Philippine Sea, where a complex intersection of destructive and strike-slip plate boundaries occurs. The main survey tools were GLORIA II long-range sidescan sonar, single channel airgun seismic profiler, 3.5 and 10 kHz high resolution profilers, magnetometer and gravimeter. A limited period was also devoted to rock dredging. |
