Objectives | Deep water trawl survey; collection of Nephrops samples
1) To carry out detailed engineering performance measurements on above gear at depth 2) To investigate selectivity of current regulation cod-end mesh size (100 mm) on deep water species 3) To obtain video film of the behaviour of these species within the trawl cod-end 4) To record water temperature at depth during fishing hauls and to relate catch size/species 5) To carry out three hauls for Nephrops samples in Burra Haaf on passage A crew member was landed by boat in Scalloway on the 23/09/1997. Bad weather stopped work on the 28/09/1997 and the vessel dodged until the 30/09/1997 when fishing was resumed. A break was made in Stornoway on the 02/10/1997 to receive replacement warps, and a ''Scotia'' was required to put into Ullapool for repairs. ''Scotia'' returned to Stornoway to pick up a replacement part. |
