ObjectivesTrawling and Plankton survey

The ship docked at Stornoway from the 22/04/1970 till the 24/04/1970 to replace scientific staff. Gonads from a few fish of doubtful maturity were preserved for histological examination. Samples of ovaries were taken from blue whiting, Norway pout, Argentina silus and A. syhyraena, and stomach contents from blue whiting. Samples of A. silus, Scorpaena, Chimaera and blue whiting were also deep frozen for analysis by the Torry Reasearch Station.

Description: Gulf III sampler, WP3 net and a standard net were used to take samples. During the latter part of the survey, the flowmeter strops broke so that no flow readings could be taken, and the standard net became irreparably torn.
