Objectives | To undertake full scale engineering trials with three versions of the GOV trawl (BT 137), namely courlene net with full lower wings, nylon net with full lower wings and nylon net with cutaway wings.
Adverse weather conditions and a crew member requiring medical attention meant that work did not start in the Balta area till the 03/05/1981. ''Explorer' 'put into Lerwick for a mid cruise break till the 08/05/1981. Trials were delayed till the 09/05/198 off Balta due to bad weather. The ship steamed south on the 12/05/1981 to the Moray Firth grounds. No deep water work was possible owing to time lost due to bad weather. |
