PurposeTrials
ObjectivesOne of a series of data collection cruises to obtain data from a new multibeam sonar on fish school shape dynamics. Part of an EU funded project called AVITIS (cope:fair CT96-1717).
Main Objectives:
1. To calibrate vertical echosounders.
2. To collect data on fish schools with the multibeam sonarand vertical echosounders similtaneously.
3. To collect sonar and echosounder data across a sea surface temperature anamoly (front).
Calibration successful. Data on school shape obtained south of Sound of Islay. Front at mouth of Clyde surveyed with 1 transect.
