PurposeResearch
ObjectivesTo collect oceanographic and chemical data on the waters below sill depth of the upper basins to two Scottish sea lochs, Loch Etive and Loch Fyne, using the autonomous submersible vehicle Autosub 2 deployed from the salvage Vessel Terschelling. In particular, water samples were taken for analysis of particulate and dissolved manganese, cobalt and iron and for analysis of nutrients (nitrate, nitrite, phosphate and silicate), and continuous measurements were made using specific sensors for dissolved manganese and for dissolved methane. Continuous CTD and oxygen readings were also recorded.
