PurposeResearch
Objectives1. Deploy at 53° 32'N 3° 21.8'W:
Seabed frame with 600kHz ADCP to measure mean current profile; also fitted with transmissometer/conductivity/temperature logger;
Seabed frame with 600kHz ADCP to measure fast sample current profiles;
Single point mooring with temperature and conductivity loggers at 2, 5, 10m below surface.
2. Conduct CTD survey of 34 stations every 5 miles covering eastern Irish Sea to determine effects of rivers Dee, Mersey and Ribble on Liverpool Bay.

Physical oceanography
Transparency (eg transmissometer)53° 31' 59" N  3° 22' 0" W — 1 25cm Sea Tech transmissometer with T/C sensors to measure beam attenuation, temperature and conductivity. Deployed 07/08/02 near bed in 25m depth.
Current profiler (eg ADCP)53° 31' 59" N  3° 22' 0" W — 1 600kHz fast sample ADCP to measure velocity profile. Deployed 07/08/02 at bed in 24m depth.
Current profiler (eg ADCP)53° 31' 59" N  3° 22' 0" W — 1 600kHz ADCP to measure mean current profile and pressure. Deployed 07/08/02 at bed in 25m depth.
Sea level (inc. bot. press., inverted echosounder)53° 31' 59" N  3° 22' 0" W — 1 Aanderaa pressure recorder to measure bottom pressure. Deployed 07/08/02 at bed in 25m depth.
Other physical oceanographic measurements53° 31' 59" N  3° 22' 0" W — 3 Aanderaa current meters logging temperature and conductivity only. Deployed on 07/08/02 in 26m depth; instruments at 2, 5 and 10m below surface.
