ObjectivesThe third of 4 cruises carried out in the northern North Sea as part of the EU-MAST III project PROVESS (Processes of Vertical Exchange in Shelf Seas). The working area was located in the northern North Sea, in a 100 x 50 km box around a central position 59° 20'N, 1° 00'E, where instrumentation was moored by the RV Valdivia (cruise 174, PROVESS N-1).
The main objective of the cruise was to moor additional equipment to observe internal wave motions and to obtain extensive set of turbulence, CTD and SeaSoar surveys, pelagic biological and optical measurements in order to monitor possible variations in the vertical exchange in the water column.
