ObjectivesThis cruise was in 2 parts. Part 1: 06-20 November; Part 2: 21 November to 04 December.
The primary objective was to conduct a trawl survey of the Irish Sea, Celtic Sea and western Channel, to obtain information on:
1. Distribution, size composition and abundance of all fish, cephalopod and commercial shellfish species.
2. Age-length distribution of selected commercial fish species for ICES Working Group and biological studies.
3. Biological parameters of selected species (skates and rays).
4. Depth, temperature and salinity conditions encountered by the trawl net (mini-CTD attached to the trawl headline).
5. Seabed type in the Celtic Sea, using the QTC system (ground truthing attempted but not completed during this survey).
6. Gear trials with a BACA trawl.
