Cruise period2000-06-05 — 2000-07-03
StatusCompleted
Port of departureSouthampton, United Kingdom
Port of returnSouthampton, United Kingdom
PurposeResearch
ObjectivesAcquire finely sampled measurements of currents and hydrography in the Faroe Bank Channel region, sufficient to address three specific questions:
1) What is the transport and momentum balance of the overflow?
2) How does the overflow water approach the sill southwest of the Faroe Islands, and is the overflow hydraulically controlled?
3) Where and how does mixing occur in the descending overflow?
