| Objectives | 1. To tag herring over a wide area around Shetland using the Northwest Marine Technology microtagging system in liason with a Norwegian charter vessel.
2. To monitor catches of herring for tags released at Shetland in 1983 and 1984. 3. To transport herring to Loch Ewe in the ship's RSW tanks for sonar and tag loss experiments and to Aberdeen at the end of the charter for study of herring energetics. 4. To investigate the use of anaesthetics in relation to fish transport aboard "Vigilant" and monitor oxygen consumption in holding tanks during transit. |
