ObjectivesAim:
Preliminary studies of growth and mortality of young sole.

Team 1: 22nd-27th November, Lowestoft, FV Sundance.
Team 2: 17th-24th November, Rye Bay, FV St Richard.

Results:
1.41 beam trawl hauls 20th-23rd and 2 push net sites at Camber and Winchelsea on 19th were sampled. All fish caught were identified and measured. Salinity and sediment samples were collected and surface temperature observations were made at each station. By-catch of shrimp was noted at each station.

2. Live 0-group held in tanks for 24 hours then deep frozen for laboratory estimation of condition factors. Additional hauls made in daylight and dark and samples of 0-group sole from these hauls collected for stomach content anaysis. Samples of by-catch species collected for stomach content analysis.

3. Trial haul made using a scallop dredge in Rye Bay but no fish caught.
