Objectives | Standard beam trawl survey joint with FV Wash Harvester.
Part a) 25th-28th April and 24th May
Part b) 26th-27th April and 26th May
Aims:
1. To estimate the post-winter population of juvenile sole.
2. To collect samples of juvenile sole for condition index and fat content.
Results:
1. Total of 108 hauls of 10 minutes duraation using standard 2m beam trawl. At 34 stations off Lowestoft a modified 2m beam trawl with spiked chain tickler was towed simultaneously with the standard trawl. All fish caught were identified and measured. Surface salinity and temperature obersvations and sediment samples collected at every station. Shrimp by-catch at was recorded at each station.
2. Live 1-group sole collected and held in tanks for 24 hours then deep frozen for laboratory estimation of condition factors. |
