Objectives | 1. To carry out a herring egg survey on Ballantrae Bank.
2. To collaborate with FRV Scotia in sampling herring lavae in the vicinity of Ballantrae Bank. 3. To obtain ripe herring from trammel net hauls for artificial fertilisation and to study their development and that of hatched larvae in anchored cages. Plankton hauls were made. |

Eggs and larvae | Quantity: number of hauls = 3 Description: A small number of eggs were obtaned to the north-west position of the 1966 egg patch from 2 hauls. Some eggs were also taken ina haul made at the southeren edge of the 1966 patch |
