Objectives | 1. Loch Eil survey.
2. Haddock and whiting survival experiments. 3. Physiological observations of plaice and haddock. Serial blood samples of indiviual plaice were collected so that the changes in lactate, glucose and haematocrit following capture and tank and cage adaptation could be followed. I-135 labelled human serum albumen was injected to measure the state of contraction of the capillaries in the muscle at different times following trawling. The opportunity was taken to get more practise in the use of the underwater cameras. Coloured photographs showing the methods employed during the survival experiments were taken for demonstration puroposes. |
