Port of departureBarry, United Kingdom
Port of returnBarry, United Kingdom
PurposeResearch
Objectives1) To intensively sample the outcrop geology of the shallower banks on the Rockhall Plateau.

2) Sampling in-situ rocks, superficial sediments and the use of asdic for structural mapping of the outcrops and observation of sediment distribution patterns.

3) To continue seismic profiling on all passage tracks using Bolt-Air guns and in the shallow water areas to obtain high resolution seismic profiles using the ORE 3.5kHz seismic profiler.

4) Side-scan sonar was carried for continuous operation asa narrow beam echo-sounder in the deeper water areas and for use as a support for bottom sampling and sediment distribution studies in all depths less than 300 fathoms

5) Magnetics and depth data were to be obtained on all tracks
