PurposeResearch
Objectives1) A line of plankton stations was worked on an echo-survey grid down the 100 m fathom line to the west of the Hebrides. Stations were worked intermittently during the trawling operations. Aimed to obtain accurate information on the depth distribution of blue whiting larvae
2) Trawling
3) Gear testing of the bottom trawl
4) Information on the declination and divergence of the warps etc were collected
5) The Marconi Fishgraph was run almost continuously during the whole trip

The Furno depth telemeter was worked in conjunction with the mid-water trawl. The ship called in to Campbeltown on 17/04/1967 to land the Kevin Hughes representative and after taking on water set out for Porcupine Bank a few hours later.

Pelagic fishDescription: 25 baskets of blue whiting, 85 baskets of Argentina silus. By catches of Scorpaena, dactylopterus, dogfish and hake. 2 specimens of Oxydontus paradoxus were taken. Hauls taken with the Gulf III, WP3 and surface nets.
