1. Examine Hurd Deep to determine possible mode of origin
2. Continous seismic profiles and magnetometer traverses to collect data on sub-surface geological structure - 50° 10'N, 2degW and 4degW
3. Sample surface sediments at selected sites inshore and in the open sea
4. Continous seismic profiles and magnetometer traverses west of 5degW
5. Detalied bathymetric survey of lower submarine canyon system
6. Gain experience in laying bottome current meter stations
