ObjectivesThe area surveyed forms the northern half of the Spurn and Indefatigable sheets whch encompass the East Midlands Shelf in the west and passes eastwards across the Sole Pit inversion zone into the Anglo-Dutch basin.

Completed 1779km of regional survey comprising lines 9-32 inclusive using equipment developed in Leg 1. Early poor weather resulted in moderate quality seismic data. Thereafter, the weather and data quality were good. Humtec boomer records were of poor quality. Further tests were carried out on the UDI side scan sonar system. Not possible to tow the Humtex boomer and side scan sonar together without danger of entanglement. Experimentation with simultaneous display of air gun and sparker was successful. Good navigational accuracy. Gravity results were good.
