Description
Summary

Due to the intensification of the eutrophication phenomenon, the aim of this very complex project was to monitor and assesses the status of marine ecosystem in order to obtain a complete picture on its dynamics. The structure of the project was oriented in six main directions:- phytoplankton blooms and their ecological effects on the marine ecosystem;- the planktic invertebrate multiannual dynamics;- the benthic invertebrate multiannual dynamics;- the mussel stock assessment (1994,1995, 1999);- the state of the fish populations;- the biochemical processes in sediment and water column. All sample sites were visited monthly from April to October, except the 1997 when the midlittoral samples were collected until December, and 1998, when the sampling started in January. The midlittoral zoobenthos data set is based on the processing of 409 samples.
