Description
Summary

The Anglo-French FLUXMANCHE programme is designed to study and model the flux of biogeochemical material and water in the eastern English Channel. Data have been collected on two RRS Challenger cruises (April 1991, March 1992) providing a physical and chemical database for model input and to study the dominant physical processes in the region. Ship measurements included temperature, salinity, fluorescence, chlorophyll, transmittance, oxygen and irradiance, both underway and using a CTD and water bottles. Underway current profiling has been undertaken using an ADCP and bathymetry data have been collected with a precision echo-sounder. Land-based HF Radar measurements using OSCR II have been made for 1 month, collecting data at each of 700 cells every 20 minutes.
