Description
Summary

In the period 1976 to 1979 the Istituto Idrografico della Marina Militare, collaborating with the Istituto di Fisica dell'Atmosfera, carried out 18 oceanographic cruises in the coastal area of the Ligurian Sea. Seven sub-areas were studied, namely: - Area A (Genova): from Voltri to Nervi inside the bathymetry of 1000 meters. - Area B (La Spezia): from Riomaggiore to Marina di Carrara inside the bathymetry of 200 meters. - Area C (Livorno): from Tirrenia to Castiglioncello inside the bathymetry of 100 meters. - Areas a, b, c, d: from Ventimiglia to the Promontory of Piombino, among the areas A, B and C. The areas A, B and C were studied with a monthly periodicity with the aid of the Marina Militare. The following parameters were measured: bathymetry, temperature, salinity, oxygen, transparency, current direction and velocity. A small amount of data was collected in the areas a, b. c and d. When it was possible, the same measurements were collected also in the 'secondary' areas.
