The database comprises > 4 million profiles of temperature, salinity and sound velocity and observational data as detailed above. It includes Royal Navy data ( much of which has been released to the civil community for purposes of bona fide research) , UK Civilian Research Vessel data and public domain data received from other data centres. Individual observations are held as depth/temperature pairs at inflexion points and where resolution allows at 1 metre resolution . Meteorological and other environmental data data, if recorded at the time of the observation, are also databased.
