BODC Cruise Metadata Report for RV Pelagia (64PE) cruise PE109

Introduction

This report collates information from the BODC cruise inventory and oceanographic databases. It presents

Cruise Inventory Information

Long name RV Pelagia (64PE) cruise PE109
Short name PE109
Objectives and Narrative The major goal of the OMEX-II project is to gain a better understanding of the physical, chemical and biological processes at the shelf break, responsible for the exchange of matter and energy between the coastal zone and the open ocean. Emphasis however is on the carbon cycle.
It is the objective of the studies carried out during this cruise to contribute to understanding , definition, quantification and modelling of organic and inorganic particle transport and accumulation, of the diagenetic and burial processes and fluxes and the time scales involved in relation to the oceanographic conditions and benthic boundary layer dynamics along the shelf-slope-margin-abyssal plain transects across the Iberian Margin.
