Objectives1) To undertake an underwater closed-circuit television (UWCCTV) and benthic grab survey of the Birch Point explosives dumping ground.
2) To trawl for spawning herring in the Firth of Clyde area using the small GOV trawl
3) To undertake an UWCCTV and benthic grab survey of the Garroch Head sewage dumping ground
4) A sample of cod was taken for heavy metal analysis
5) Samples of sediment from selected samples stations were sent to ICI for nitroglycerine analysis

Fuel was taken onboard Campeltown on the 04/03/1981 and ''Clupea'' sailed for the Birch Point dump site where scientific work commenced on the 05/03/1981. The ship tied up in Troon on the 05/03/1981 overnight and to embark a new crew member and returned on the 06/03/1981 to disembark and exchange scientific personnel. Work recommenced on the 09/03/1981. ''Clupea'' sailed for Campbeltown were it remained till the 16/03/1981. The ship docked in Troon on the evening of the 16/03/1981 to disembark scientific staff
