Purpose | Research |
Objectives | The cruise is part of the ICES co-ordinated International Herring Larvae Surveys (IHLS) in 2013/14. The main aim is to estimate the distribution and abundance of North Sea herring larvae for assessment purposes. The area of investigation is around the Orkney and Shetland Islands. The larvae samples are taken on a standard grid with a Station to Station distance of approx. 10 nm. Used gear is a modified GULF III plankton sampler (Nackthai). On eleven stations, additions samples were collected to enable herring larvae stomach content analyses. |
