Objectives | SO225 was a joint cruise by the Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) and the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel. The volcanological objectives were a geochronological geochemical and geomorphological investigation of the Manihiki Plateau and the paleo-environmental impact of this large igneous province. The paleoceanographic objectives were to study the Pleistocene/Pliocene dynamics of the West Pacific Warm Pool. |
