| Objectives | Every three years the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea, (ICES), coordinates a series of mackerel and horse mackerel egg surveys covering the northeastern Atlantic from Gibraltar to the Faroes, between January and July. The aim of this survey programme is to assess the northeastern Atlantic mackerel and horse mackerel stocks. Ireland, as well as the UK, participates in these surveys. It is proposed that the Marine Institute will carry out a survey in June 2019 as part of this programme. The proposed survey area is to the west of Ireland and west of Scotland. |
