PurposeResearch
ObjectivesTo carry out studies into rates of atresia in female plaice and sole in the eastern and western Irish Sea. To carry out a study into the mortality rates of plaice eggs in eastern Irish Sea.
The first half of the cruise involved fishing for mature plaice and sole for atresia studies. In second half of the cruise, ARGOS buoys were released in a patch of plaice eggs. Intensive plankton sampling around the buoys was carried out over the following 7 days.
