Objectives | To undertake a survey within the Firth of Clyde in order to:
1. Re-determine the inshore nursery areas for demersal and pelagic fish.
2. Collect stomach samples to study the feeding ecology of cod, haddock, whiting and saithe.
3. Collect DNA and otolith samples from cod, haddock, whiting and saithe for stock discrimination.
4. Obtain additional knowledge on benthic species in the survey area. |

Measurements | |
Biology and fisheries | |
---|
Pelagic fish | Quantity: number of hauls = 45 Description: For each haul the measurement of length for fish caught was taken associated with the otolith at length. Also skin samples were taken for DNA analysis, to establish possible stock discrimination. Stomach samples were also collected in order to study feeding ecology. |
Demersal fish | Quantity: number of hauls = 45 Description: For each haul the measurement of length for fish caught was taken associated with the otolith at length. Also skin samples were taken for DNA analysis, to establish possible stock discrimination. Stomach samples were also collected in order to study feeding ecology. |
Exploratory fishing | Quantity: number of hauls = 45 Description: For each haul the measurement of length for fish caught was taken associated with the otolith at length. Also skin samples were taken for DNA analysis, to establish possible stock discrimination. Stomach samples were also collected in order to study feeding ecology. |
Other biological/fisheries measurement | Quantity: number of hauls = 45 Description: For each haul the measurement of length for fish caught was taken associated with the otolith at length. Also skin samples were taken for DNA analysis, to establish possible stock discrimination. Stomach samples were also collected in order to study feeding ecology. |
