ObjectivesIndian Ocean WOCE Hydrographic Section I02, a transindian ocean section along nominal latitude 8 S. 168 CTD/O2 stations were occupied within 10 m of the bottom with a 36 position (10 l bottle) frame equipped with lowered ADCP. Twenty seven ALACE floats and surface drifters were deployed during the cruise and an underway program of meterological, sea surface, and hull-mounted ADCP measurements was carried out along the entire cruise track. Samples for barium analysis were also collected (not WOCE related). Measurement of the South Java Current could not take place because clearance was not obtained to access hydrographic stations within the Indonesian Exclusive Economic Zone.
