Objectives1. To survey the distribution of selected dissolved and particulate trace
metals (cadmium, copper, mercury, nickel and zinc) in the English
coastal region of the North Sea, the northern North Sea and the eastern
English Channel.
2. To survey the distribution of selected trace metals (cadmium, copper,
mercury, zinc, lead and manganese), organic carbon, carbonate and particle size of surface sediments collected at water sampling stations.
3. To measure the ultraviolet absorption of sea water as an index of its
dissolved organic content.
4. To collect water samples for the analysis of caesium radioactivity.
5. To release sea bed drifters off Blyth in the sprat fishing area.
