ObjectivesThe primary objective was a study of the physical and chemical processes in a region of coastal upwelling off North-west Africa combined with a biological sampling programme in the same area. This leg of the cruise undertook an intensive survey of a 25x25 mile box off Cabo Bojador, including two time series stations of 98 and 49 hours duration with sampling intervals of 60 and 30 minutes respectively.
