Objectives and Narrative The cruise was one of several European expeditions, at intervals of approximately, 6 months, for the EC-MAST OMEX II-II programme: focusing on the NW Iberian Shelf and Slope. Aims are to construct and understand the cycling of carbon, water, particles and associated elements: involving the transfer of organic carbon, nutrients and trace elements which may be rapidly deposited to the sediments and buried; and physical processes affecting lateral and vertical transport.

Leg B was primarily concerned with the objectives of Work Package 2 - to measure the mesoscale spatial variability in the oceanic, coastal and terrestrial sources of water, particles, carbon and nutrient elements in shelf and slope waters of the Iberian Margin during wintertime conditions.
