PurposeResearch
ObjectivesFirst of a series of three cruises in the southern North Sea between March and May 1999 as part of the EU-MAST III project PROVESS (Processes of Vertical Exchange in Shelf Seas). The cruise consisted of two legs with a port call at Texel on 31/03/1999.
Objective: observational study on turbulence and nutrient recycling in the benthic boundary layer.
Leg 1: deployment of moored instruments close to 52° 18' N, 4° 18' E
Leg 2: intensive measurement series of turbulence, CTD, pelagic biological, sedimentological and optical measurements close to mooring position.
